The icing of aircraft on the ground is an important flight safety issue. Aircraft must be de-iced and anti-iced to remove protect from freezing frozen contamination, respectively, before during takeoff. Winter de-icing anti-icing operations are nonetheless costly, require a significant amount time, rely extensive infrastructures. essential equipment often not available at smaller airports remote locations, thereby preventing departures under range winter conditions. For sites located in northern Canada, this limitation results frequent takeoff delays or cancellations portion year. As part Canada’s Department National Defence Innovation for Excellence Security research program, study aimed develop practical solution mitigate these limitations. This involves mounting de-icing/anti-icing system onto drone that can readily acquired stored locations even transported within itself ensure possibility performing lacking standard infrastructure. paper presents conception design drone-based should allow small where it yet available. To do so, spraying satisfying industry requirements designed integrated selected drone. calculations were theoretically confirmed as concept, prototype was built perform laboratory test next study.
